Government Degree College, Kanda

The Government Degree College, Kanda is a government institution established in 2006 in old building of Government Inter College, Kanda. At the time of establishment, it was affiliated with Kumaun University, Nainital, however at present it is affiliated with Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora since 2020. The college was recognized by UGC under section 2 (f) on 10 Aug 2017. At present, the college functions from its own campus. The new building block is about 2 km from Kanda village and placed in small hillock. Kanda is a Tehsil of district Bageshwar of Uttarakhand state and is located about 25 km from the district headquarter Bageshwar. It is a small town and has beautiful landscape with scattered human settlement. The area is famous for Goddess Kalishan or Kalika. The very famous ancient Bhadrakali temple is located near to Kanda village. Physiographically, it is situated at an elevation of 1600 m.a.s.l. The temperature of the area is favourable throughout the year and varies in between 25 C to 30 C.  The strength of the college is increasing gradually since its establishment. Most of the faculty members are young and highly educated. Besides, we have 17 non-teaching positions in the college including permanent as well as outsourcing staff. We have well established library with total of 10255 books, 09 Magazines, 200 Reference Books in various disciplines. The books have also been catalogued on e-granthalaya.
