The department of Zoology of Government Degree College, Kanda was established in 2019. Initially, it was affiliated to Kumaun University, Nainital.  Currently it is affiliated to Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora. It offers Zoology as a major subject for the three-year Undergraduate Degree Program (B.Sc.; Bio group). The course aims to provide the basic understanding of the fundamental Zoology. It deals with the structure and function of living matter and the interactions between the fundamental constituents of the living and non-living world. At present, one assistant professor, and one lab attendant are working in the department.
