The department of Physics of Government Degree College, Kanda was established in 2019. Initially, it was affiliated to Kumaun University, Nainital.  Currently it is affiliated to Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora. It offers Physics as a major subject for the three-year Undergraduate Degree Program (B.Sc.; Mathematics). The course aims to provide the basic understanding of the fundamental Physics. It deals with the structure of matter and the interactions between the fundamental constituents of the observable universe. At present, one assistant professor, one lab assistant and one lab attendant are working in the department.
