The department of Mathematics, Government Degree College, Kanda was established in 2019. Initially, it was affiliated to Kumaun University, Nainital.  Currently it is affiliated to Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora. It offers Mathematics as a major subject for the three-year Undergraduate Degree Program (B.Sc.; Mathematics). The course aims to make the students develop mathematical independence and experience open-ended inquiry, so that they have the competence and confidence to bulid on their knowledge base. At present, one assistant professor is working in the department.
