I feel pleasure to interact with you and welcome to Government Degree College, Kanda. The college is located in remote area of Uttarakhand to provide higher education platform to the youths. The college was established in 2006 to fulfil the larger interest of local stakeholders. Initially, it was offering course in faculty of Commerce. The courses in faculty of the Arts and Science commenced since 2009 and 2019 respectively. At present our college holds out all the courses of Commerce, Science and Arts in UG and PG Course in History, Hindi, Sanskrit, Sociology, and Political Science. Our college is recognized by University Grants Commission under section 2 (F) of the UGC act 1956 and affiliated to Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora, Uttarakhand and running under the guidance of Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Uttarakhand as well. The college is receiving financial assistance from the Government of Uttarakhand and RUSA. The aim of our college is to provide perfect learning environment to the students through highly qualified faculty members. Most of our faculties is young and committed to providing qualitative education; thereby working hard for the welfare of the students. It is the collective responsibility of the teachers, students, and their guardians to develop a conducive environment to foster the growth of intellectually sound, innovative youth and promote the values of democracy, national integration, communal harmony and social equality; thereby producing responsible youths.
Currently more than 280 students are registered for degree courses in various subjects. Keeping in view the employability and overall development college offers various skill oriented programs such as e-quiz, poster and slogan competition, social and cultural programmes etc. Moreover, our college also conducting various programs for social welfare viz, “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”, “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, “Save Himalaya”, “Think Clean and Go Green”.
So let us come forward to think and act rationally and develop a scientific temperament towards the acquirement of knowledge. Our aim is importantly to provide stress free and mannered education to student. Our emphasis is to equip the young and budding talent with superior knowledge, quality skills and personal attributes. This can be achieved by creating and developing scientific and rational approach. We are using audio-visual mode, online classes, LCD projector for more effective teaching-learning. I am optimistic and very much pleased to be associated with this collage and I will always work hard for the overall development of the college and the students.
